The management of JSC “KazMunaiGaz Exploration Production” (KMG EP) expressed their sympathy with the families of those killed and injured in Zhanaozen, Tengrinews.kz reports referring to the company’s press service. This was the message of the KMG EP CEO Askar Balzhanov: “On behalf of the company I would like to express the most sincere condolences and sympathy to the families of those killed and injured as a result of the unrest on December 16 in Zhanaozen. We condemn resolutely the unlawful actions which led to victims, and all attempts to justify them by presenting as ramifications of labor arguments in oil companies in the region earlier this year. The measures undertaken by the law enforcement bodies for maintaining law and order are crucial both for the production and the peace for the town residents,” Balzhanov noted. The press service reported that the riots did not cause any damage to the production units of KMG EP. The situation at Uzen oilfield is stable, and the average daily extraction is maintained at the volume of previous days. Ozenmunaigaz facilities are watched by armed guards. The company experienced certain difficulties with the transportation of workers because the bus drivers were concerned about their safety. As the situation in the city gradually stabilizes, the number of oil workers in shifts at present, is back to planned. KMG EP hope to accomplish the earlier announced annual oil extraction plan of 12.3 million tons.
