Tengrinews.kz – More than half a million Chechens and Ingush were forcibly deported from their native lands to Kazakhstan in 1944. Despite the hardships of wartime, the Kazakh people opened the doors of their homes to the displaced. Their descendants remember this with gratitude, according to 24KZ.

Among the deportees were the parents of Gilani Sadulaev. He recalls that his parents often said that during those difficult times, the Kazakh people extended a helping hand.

"It was wartime, everyone was away at the front, so mainly elders, children, and teenagers were the ones helping. They shared their bread. They helped with whatever they could. That’s why we are deeply grateful to this people to this day. They are truly courageous and noble," said Gilani Sadulaev, a member of the Chechen-Ingush ethno-cultural association "Khalkhan Bart."

Today, the Sadulaev family is part of the large Kazakhstani community. They celebrate holidays together, visit one another, and around a generous dastarkhan there is always hot tea, warm conversations, and mutual respect for each other's traditions.

"We moved to Kazakhstan from Russia 20 years ago. Since then, we’ve been close friends with the Sadulaev family. We celebrate holidays together, and on weekdays we visit each other—sometimes for advice, sometimes just for tea. You know, we don’t divide each other by nationality, and I think that’s the most important thing," says Pavlodar resident Dina Zhumagalykysy.

The Chechen-Ingush ethnocultural center in Pavlodar is visited by people of various nationalities. The center offers classes in the Chechen and Ingush languages, literature, choreography, and vocal training.
