Tengrinews.kz – The Embassy of Kazakhstan in Washington has urged citizens who are in the U.S. under a deportation order to take advantage of the opportunity to voluntarily return to their homeland in order to avoid fines and other sanctions.
The diplomatic mission published an appeal to Kazakh citizens on its official website and social media pages.
"Dear citizens of the Republic of Kazakhstan,
currently residing in the United States of America! We draw your attention to the fact that U.S. authorities are urging foreign nationals who have a court-issued deportation order but remain in the country to voluntarily return home as soon as possible using the CBP Home mobile application," the statement reads.
It explains that those willing to leave the U.S. are offered several options, including:
- Voluntary and safe return to their home country with a choice of flight;
- Retention of earnings made in the U.S.;
- No detention by law enforcement agencies;
- Return without forced deportation.
They are also eligible for financial assistance if they cannot afford a plane ticket and may retain the right to legally return to the U.S. in the future.
Those who refuse voluntary return will face specific enforcement measures. The migrant may be subject to immediate deportation. Officials from the U.S. Department of Homeland Security are authorized to detain individuals without allowing time to prepare for departure.
In addition, fines and sanctions will be imposed. If a person remains in the U.S. despite a deportation order, a fine of $998 per day will be levied retroactively. This applies to individuals with deportation rulings issued within the past five years. The fine may reach up to $1 million. If the fine cannot be paid, the U.S. government may consider seizing property owned by foreign nationals unlawfully residing in the country.
"If a citizen fails to return home and does not report via CBP Home, an additional fine ranging from $1,000 to $5,000 will be imposed," the message states.
Other measures include a ban on re-entry into the U.S., which effectively revokes the person’s right to legally enter the country through immigration channels.
"In light of the above, the embassy urges citizens of the Republic of Kazakhstan to take advantage of this opportunity to prevent possible negative consequences," the diplomatic mission concluded.

It is worth noting that media outlets have reported that Donald Trump’s administration plans to deport one million undocumented migrants during the first year of his potential new term as president.
