Tengrinews.kz – Global pop icon Jennifer Lopez is set to light up Astana Arena with a major concert on August 1 as part of her world tour, Up All Night. The event is expected to draw over 15,000 international visitors.
The concert will mark a significant cultural milestone for Kazakhstan, positioning Astana as a stop on the global touring circuit for A-list performers. The performance will take place at Astana Arena, the country’s premier football stadium, which recently completed a major renovation, including the installation of a new artificial turf.
Responding to Tengrinews.kz, the city administration assured that all technical and operational requirements will be met to prepare the stadium for the high-profile event.
"A special protective cover will be used to safeguard the pitch, allowing for safe installation of the stage, equipment, and audience zones," officials said.
Despite the excitement surrounding the event, it has sparked some concerns within the local sports community. FC Astana head coach Grigory Babayan referred to the concert as a 'major problem' due to its clash with the 19th round of the Kazakhstan Premier League. In response, local administration assured that dismantling the stage and cleaning the venue would be completed within 24 hours after the show.
Preparations are already underway to ensure football teams have alternate venues for training and matches during the stadium's temporary closure.
Lopez's concert has generated massive buzz across Kazakhstan and neighboring countries. Ticket demand surged to the point that the official ticketing website crashed just before sales began. Local authorities confirmed that more than 15,000 foreign fans are expected, boosting both tourism and the city's economy.
"The arrival of Jennifer Lopez is a landmark cultural event for the capital and will significantly enhance Astana’s reputation as a destination for global entertainment," the administration stated.
The singer’s show is scheduled for August 1 at Astana Arena. Just days after the event was announced, interest skyrocketed and turned into a full-blown ticket hunt. Tickets for Jennifer Lopez's upcoming concert will go on sale starting April 11.
