Tengrinews.kz - A new public beach may appear in Astana, Akim Zhenis Kassymbek announced during a community meeting with residents of the capital’s Saraishyk district.
According to the akim (governor), designated zones for city beaches are already included in the capital’s general development plan.
“The master plan includes approved locations for public beaches—one in the area of Central Park and another along Aitmatov Street near the embankment. As for the location you mentioned near the northern Triathlon Park, it is currently under consideration,” said Kassymbek in response to a resident’s question.
He added that not all residents support the idea of building a new beach close to residential buildings, emphasizing that the matter requires thorough consideration.
“Some people are in favor of it, while others are not. Without public hearings and some form of consensus, a decision like this cannot be made. There are residents living nearby who oppose the idea of a beach there. We need to study the matter, do the calculations, and conduct public hearings,” the akim concluded.
Back in 2022, there were also discussions about building a beach on Beisekova Street in Astana.
During the meeting, other topics were also addressed, including the improvement of courtyards and public spaces, street lighting, landscaping, transport accessibility, and the development of social infrastructure.
