The common buzzard (Buteo buteo) is a robust bird of prey with a wingspan of 42-45 centimeters and a weight of over one kilogram. It typically has dark brown feathers with a pale patch near the tips of its wings. While buzzards usually nest in trees, this particular pair chose a cliffside for their home. Chicks hatch approximately 40 days after the eggs are laid.
“Jamansary is the bird of the year. This intelligent and active raptor returns to Charyn in spring – between March and May – after wintering in warmer regions. Its diet includes small rodents, lizards, birds, insects, and even frogs,” the Charyn Canyon National Park administration wrote on Instagram.
Spotting a buzzard soaring above the park is a special moment for nature lovers and wildlife photographers alike.
