Tengrinews.kz – Four people were killed, one seriously injured, and one reported missing after a cable car rope snapped in Italy, according to Euronews.
The tragedy occurred on Mount Monte Faito in the province of Naples. The safety system locked the cabins in place, but one cabin—carrying four passengers and two service personnel—fell into a ravine.
News agency ANSA reports that two of the victims were British citizens, and one was from Israel.
Eleven people trapped in another cabin were rescued with the help of safety harnesses. They returned to the mountain base at Castellammare di Stabia.
The rescue operation, taking place at an altitude of around 1,200 meters, is being hampered by bad weather and fog. Firefighters, the Carabinieri, police, and the civil protection service are working at the scene.
Local media report that the prosecutor’s office will begin investigating the incident as soon as the rescue efforts are completed.
