Tengrinews.kz – Residents of Astana received a frost warning just one day after the city officially ended its heating season.
On April 22, authorities announced the end of centralized heating in the capital. Less than 24 hours later, locals were alerted via SMS from emergency services about expected ground frosts - and even possible snowfall overnight.
According to Kazhydromet, weather in Astana on April 24 will be marked by variable cloudiness and light overnight precipitation, with a mix of rain and snow. Winds will shift from northeast to southeast at 9–14 meters per second. Night-time air temperatures are forecast between +2°C and +4°C, but frost may form on the ground at around -1°C. Daytime temperatures will rise to +18°C to +20°C.
Weather forecast for the coming days:
- April 25: Partly cloudy, dry, with southeast wind at 5–10 m/s. Temperatures from +5°C to +7°C at night and up to +23°C to +25°C during the day.
- April 26: Partly cloudy and dry, with southwest winds at 9–14 m/s. Night-time temperatures between +11°C and +13°C, daytime highs of +25°C to +27°C.
Just a day earlier, the capital was hit by a sudden storm that brought hail and heavy rain, with videos of the downpour circulating widely on social media.
