Tengrinews.kz - The Ministry of Internal Affairs of Kazakhstan is introducing a new approach to preventing road accidents. A method of narrowing roadways will be implemented at particularly dangerous sections of highways, citing Polisia.kz.
The road-narrowing method is already used in OECD countries and the United States.
According to the principle, when a road narrows at a hazardous section, drivers naturally begin to slow down and become more attentive.
“This method makes passing through a dangerous zone safer. Police officers also conduct short preventive conversations to ensure that the driver is not fatigued and can continue the journey safely,” the ministry’s press service stated.
In addition, the ministry noted that drones and undercover patrols are being actively used to maintain order on the roads.
Earlier, Transport Minister Marat Karabayev announced plans for a new highway connecting Astana to the Trans-Caspian International Transport Route, reducing travel distance to western Kazakhstan.
