Tengrinews.kz - A tragic accident occurred in the Abai region when three men fell into a river while trying to transport a motorcycle across a suspension bridge. Rescuers have recovered the bodies of two men, while the search for the third initially continued.
Search and rescue operations are underway in the Ayagoz district. According to preliminary information, the three men—workers from a local farming enterprise—fell into the water while attempting to cross the river via a suspension bridge.
The incident happened on April 15, but details only emerged today. The regional Department of Emergency Situations (DES) said a call was received the following day via the 101 emergency hotline in Ayagoz regarding an incident near the village of Akshauli.
“According to eyewitnesses, the three men were trying to push a motorcycle across a wooden suspension bridge in the Kokkamir area when they fell into the Karakol River. Mobile phones and outerwear were found on the riverbank,” said the Abai region DES.
Footage shared on social media shows the bridge in a dangerous state of disrepair, rendering it virtually unusable.
On April 16, rescuers, assisted by local authorities, found the bodies of two men.
Later, the body of the third man, born in 1967, was discovered two kilometers from the site of the incident.
