Tengrinews.kz - A woman from Aktobe has filed a lawsuit seeking compensation for material and moral damages after suffering an eyelid tear following a home blepharoplasty procedure.

The plaintiff saw an Instagram ad for blepharoplasty services and underwent the procedure on August 4 of last year at the defendant's rented apartment. A week after the surgery, the plaintiff noticed eye asymmetry and returned to the defendant for a second operation, which was performed on August 15.

"During the second operation, the defendant cut too deeply into the skin of the plaintiff's right eyelid and severed her lower eyelashes along with the skin, causing continuous bleeding. The defendant cauterized the wound with a laser, stopped the bleeding, and stitched the area," the court's statement said.

Following the unsuccessful procedure, the woman had to seek medical help from ophthalmologists and plastic surgeons due to conjunctivitis, pain, and excessive tearing. As a result of the surgery, her eyelids no longer fully close, and her appearance was altered, forcing her to leave her job and incur treatment and rehabilitation costs.

"The court found that the defendant, a paramedic at a hospital, did not have a license for plastic surgery, only a certificate. The defendant voluntarily refunded the plaintiff 80,000 tenge spent on the procedure. Additionally, the court awarded the plaintiff 235,000 tenge for material expenses and 1 million tenge as compensation for moral damages," the court clarified.
