Tengrinews.kz – The Ministry of Labor and Social Protection of Kazakhstan has revealed how many veterans of the Great Patriotic War currently live in the country.
Latest figures: how many veterans live in Kazakhstan
According to the Ministry, as of April 1, Kazakhstan is home to 83,048 veterans, including:
- 111 veterans of the Great Patriotic War (WWII);
- 16,796 individuals entitled to WWII-equivalent benefits;
- 26,553 veterans of military operations in other countries;
- 39,588 home-front workers from the WWII era.
Earlier, the Ministry reported that as of January 1, 85,203 veterans were living in Kazakhstan, including 120 WWII veterans.
Benefit amounts in 2025: who receives how much
Since the beginning of 2025, special state benefits totaling 4.3 billion tenge have been paid to the above categories. For the full year, 17 billion tenge has been allocated for these purposes.
All veteran categories receive monthly special state benefits from the national budget, regardless of other social payments, in the following amounts:
1. WWII veterans – 16 MRP (Monthly Calculation Index) = 62,912 tenge in 2025;
2. Veterans with WWII-equivalent status, including:
- Individuals equated to those with disabilities from injuries or illnesses sustained during WWII – 7.55 MRP = 29,687 tenge;
- Individuals equated to WWII participants – 6.19 MRP = 24,339 tenge;
3. Veterans of military operations in other countries, including:
- Afghanistan war veterans – 6.19 MRP = 24,339 tenge
- Military personnel involved in: strengthening CIS border protection on the Tajik-Afghan section, international peacekeeping missions in Iraq, resolution of interethnic conflict in Nagorno-Karabakh – 4.8 MRP = 18,874 tenge.
4. Home-front workers of the WWII era – 2.13 MRP = 8,376 tenge.
