“False information is being spread on social media about the escape of convict K. Bishimbayev. This information is not true. The convict is serving his sentence in a maximum-security facility,” the statement said.

The committee urged Kazakhstani citizens not to spread misinformation and to rely only on official sources.

“We inform you that a criminal case has already been initiated regarding the dissemination of this false information, and those responsible will be held accountable,” stated the press service of the agency.

Reminder: On May 13, the trial in the case of the murder of Saltanat Nukenova concluded in Astana. Former Minister of National Economy Kuandyk Bishimbayev was found guilty of torturing and murdering his wife and was sentenced to 24 years in prison.

His brother, Bakhytzhan Baizhanov, was found guilty of concealing the crime and sentenced to four years in prison.

On June 26, the judicial panel ruled on the appeal of Bishimbayev and Baizhanov, leaving their sentences unchanged.

The press service of the Committee of Criminal Executive System reported on July 23 that the convicted former minister was transferred to a maximum-security facility.
