Tengrinews.kz – A new airline from the UAE is launching flights to Almaty.

Starting from June 1, 2025, a new international airline — Air Arabia Abu Dhabi, based in the United Arab Emirates, will begin operations in Kazakhstan. This was reported by the press service of the Ministry of Transport of Kazakhstan.

The airline plans to launch regular direct flights on the Abu Dhabi – Almaty route. Flights will operate three times a week — on Tuesdays, Fridays, and Sundays using Airbus A320 aircraft.

Flight schedule

The first flight is scheduled for June 3. According to the information published on the airline's website, flights will operate according to the following (local time):

  • From Abu Dhabi to Almaty: Departure at 09:20 AM, arrival at 2:35 PM;
  • From Almaty to Abu Dhabi: Departure at 3:35 PM, arrival at 7:20 PM.

During the flight, passengers will have access to free streaming content via the SkyTime service, as well as the option to purchase snacks and drinks from the SkyCafe onboard. Additionally, travelers can benefit from the Air Rewards loyalty program, which allows them to accumulate, spend, and transfer bonus points.

The launch of these new flights is expected to strengthen cooperation between Kazakhstan and the UAE.

Do Kazakh citizens need a visa

Kazakh citizens can enter the UAE without a visa for up to 30 days, thanks to the visa-free agreement between the two countries.

It is worth noting that Air Arabia Abu Dhabi is a joint venture between Air Arabia and Etihad Airways. The company is known for its affordable pricing policy and a modern fleet. The airline is based at Zayed International Airport in Abu Dhabi. Its first flight took place in July 2020.

In February of this year, Deputy Minister of Transport Talgat Lastayev announced plans to launch flights from Kazakhstan with four new international low-cost airlines. In early April, Chair of the Civil Aviation Committee Saltanat Tompieva clarified that these included the Korean carriers T’way and Eastar Jet, the Indian low-cost carrier SpiceJet, and Thailand's AirAsia X.

According to her, 12 more aircraft are expected to arrive by the end of 2025. Since the beginning of the year, the national fleet has already been expanded with four aircraft — two for Air Astana and two for Fly Arystan.
