Tengrinews.kz – The Akimat of Astana (local government administration) has called on residents of the capital, business owners, and representatives of various companies to take part in a citywide clean-up day (subbotnik) on Saturday, April 26.
According to the city administration’s official website, the event is part of the large-scale environmental campaign "Taza Kazakhstan. Astana – a Model of Cleanliness and Order."
It is noted that the initiative will involve cleaning the city from litter, tidying up parks, squares, courtyards, and areas near businesses, restaurants, and other organizations.
“The Akimat urges all city enterprises, housing cooperatives (KSK/OSI), small and medium-sized businesses, volunteers, and concerned citizens to join the eco-campaign and take part in the clean-up,” the press service stated.
More than 1,400 trees and other greenery are also expected to be planted during the clean-up.
“The main goal of the campaign is to raise public awareness about maintaining cleanliness in the city and to foster a culture of environmental responsibility,” the press service added.
Everyone willing to contribute to the beautification of streets and courtyards is encouraged to join. The subbotnik will begin at 10:00 AM, according to the akimat.
The “Taza Kazakhstan” campaign has been held nationwide since 2024. Earlier, presidential advisor and spokesperson Ruslan Zheldibai reported that since the launch of the initiative, 183 environmental events have been organized across the country, with over 6.2 million participants, including 229,000 volunteers.
