Kazakhstani football player transferred to Polish top division

A forward of the Kazakhstan national football team Sergey Khizhnichenko has signed up with Korona football club from Kietce, Poland, Tengrinews reports citing Vesti.kz. The 22-y.o football player will be playing with the Polish football club until the end of the 2014. He has already played two warm-up matches with Korona. For the first time the young forward played with his new team in a match against Pogon from Siedlce (1:2) and then substituted his fellow player on the 70th minute against Rakuv from Czestochowa (4:1). Khizhnichenko trained in Vostok football club in Ust-Kamenogorsk in eastern Kazakhstan and then moved to Karaganda-based Shakhter FC in February 2011. Last season, the football player helped his team get into the group qualifiers of the UEFA Europe League. Khizhnichenko played in 63 matches with Shakhter football club and scored 24 goals. He played 23 matches as part of the national team of Kazakhstan and scored 5 goals. Korona, a top division football club, plays in the Ekstraklasa championship. The football club was formed in 1973 when Iskra Kielce and SHL clubs merged. In 2007, Korona got into the final of the Polish Cup, but lost to Dyskobolia 0:2. The team plays at the Kielce City stadium that seat 15.500 fans.
