Tengrinews.kz - President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev and UEFA President Aleksander Ceferin recalled the tense clash between the national teams of Kazakhstan and Slovenia during the UEFA Euro 2024 qualifying, citing the Telegram channel "Bort No. 1."
The following exchange in English took place between Tokayev and Ceferin:
“My country Slovenia played against Kazakhstan in the Euro qualifiers. I must say, until the very last moment we thought we could lose. We were skeptical. I think we were very lucky,” said the UEFA president.
“Your team turned out to be stronger,” Kassym-Jomart Tokayev remarked.
“Yes, football is football,” Aleksander Ceferin replied.
“I know your team is very strong,” the President of Kazakhstan added.
Aleksander Ceferin is a Slovenian sports official and currently serves as president of UEFA.
Earlier, President Tokayev met with UEFA President, Aleksander Ceferin, in Astana.
