Tengrinews.kz - President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev has signed the law "On Amendments and Additions to Certain Legislative Acts of the Republic of Kazakhstan on Gambling Business, Lottery Activities, Health Protection, State Labor Inspection, State Control, and Elimination of Excessive Legislative Regulation," according to the Akorda press service.
The law introduces changes to the Code “On Public Health and the Healthcare System,” and to the laws “On Advertising,” “On Gambling Business,” and “On Compulsory Social Medical Insurance.”
The first block of amendments addresses specific healthcare issues. Specialized outpatient care for early cancer detection through screening is now included in the state-guaranteed free healthcare package, and will be excluded from the mandatory social health insurance system.
Other amendments address the provision of hearing aids to patients who do not have a registered disability.
The second block of amendments introduces a ban on advertising for bookmakers and totalizators via mobile devices and online platforms. The range of media outlets allowed to advertise betting services is now limited to those with a strictly sports-related focus. In addition, individuals sentenced to restricted freedom or given suspended sentences are now prohibited from participating in gambling or betting activities.
The full text of the law will be published in the official press.
Previously, amendments concerning gambling and lottery activities officially came into effect in Kazakhstan, introducing a series of restrictions for civil servants.
