Pakistan Ambassador to Kazakhstan Shaukat Ali Mukadam has praised Kazakhstan's living standards, Tengrinews reports.
“It has been 10 months since I came to Kazakhstan and I noticed that the living standards in Kazakhstan are very high. I measure it not by the number of brands and fashion stores that pop up like mushrooms after a spring rain in shopping malls like Khan Shatyr and Keruen (large shopping malls in Astana), or by women wearing very impressive fur coats and carrying luxury bags, while the men are left with a few polo shirts. But I measure it by the high level of education in the universities, by Bolashak program (scholarship for education abroad), by the developed infrastructure, by the wonderful architecture and spectacular views, by the railway network, by the welfare system that provides maternity leaves and housing loans,” Pakistan Ambassador Shaukat Ali Mukadam said at the round table entitled Implementation of Kazakhstan-2050 Strategy and Kazakhstan’s Role in the International Community.
Shaukat Ali Mukadam said that he visited Astana along with Pakistan’s President 14 years ago, but at that time the city was very different with construction cranes everywhere.
“Astana has turned into a very modern and energetic city. It was made possible thanks to the farsighted policy of Nursultan Nazarbayev and hard work of the people of Kazakhstan,” the Pakistani diplomat said.
“Kazakhstan is fortunate to have such farsighted leader as President Nursultan Nazarbayev, who leads the country along an ascending path towards progress both within the country and on the international arena,” he added.
Besides, he also pointed out a number of drawbacks with Kazakhstan’s banking system being one of them. “Foreigners have to spend as lot of time just to open a bank account. For me as an ambassador, it took two months,” he said.
Shaukat Ali Mukadam believes that Kazakhstan has a huge tourism potential.
He also advises Kazakh children to learn foreign languages, such as English, French, German and Chinese.
The round table was organized by the Senate Committee for International Relations, Defense and Security.
Kazakhstan Foreign Minister Yerlan Idrissov, Chairman of the Committee Ikram Adyrbekov, heads of foreign embassies and international organizations accredited in Kazakhstan attended the event.
