Tengrinews.kz – Kazhydromet has issued a warning for residents of Almaty.
"On April 28, 2025, unfavorable meteorological conditions for air pollution are expected in Almaty," the statement said.
Unfavorable meteorological conditions refer to a combination of short-term weather factors (calm, light wind, fog, inversion) that contribute to the accumulation of harmful (polluting) substances in the ground layer of the atmosphere.
An inversion is a weather phenomenon where warm air sits above cooler air, effectively trapping it. Normally, the air near the ground is warmer and rises, carrying pollutants away. But during an inversion, the cold air becomes "locked" at the surface, along with all emissions, dust, and smoke. As a result, pollution accumulates near the ground, especially in urban areas.

On April 28, Almaty will experience partly cloudy skies, occasional rain, and thunderstorms. Hail is expected during the day. Southwest wind at 9–14 m/s, with daytime gusts of 15–20 m/s. Air temperature: 11–13°C at night, 25–27°C during the day.
