Tengrinews.kz - A hairline crack was discovered on an aircraft operated by Kazakh airline Air Astana, the company confirmed in a statement.
The airline clarified that the defect was not critical and did not pose any threat to flight safety.
"A small 25-millimeter crack was found in a non-critical part of the structure, specifically at the attachment point of a lightweight cargo compartment panel. This minor damage does not affect flight safety and could have occurred during normal operation," the statement read.
Air Astana emphasized that it follows strict maintenance regulations and monitors the condition of its fleet in full accordance with the aircraft manufacturer's recommendations.
"Air Astana strictly adheres to the approved technical inspection schedule and performs all necessary repair work according to the manufacturer’s guidelines, ensuring airworthiness and safe operation," the airline said.
The damage has since been repaired, and the aircraft has returned to service.
"We strongly urge the public to refrain from spreading false information in order to avoid legal consequences," the airline added.
Earlier, reports circulated online that Kazakhstan’s Transport Prosecutor's Office and the Aviation Administration had identified a defect on one of Air Astana's aircraft, leading to its temporary grounding. Details of the incident have not been officially disclosed.
