Tengrinews.kz - Healthcare Minister Akmaral Alnazarova has outlined how Kazakhstan plans to better protect emergency medical workers.
Speaking at a government briefing, Alnazarova called the issue "very relevant" and said several proposals have already received support from the Prosecutor General’s Office, the Ministry of Justice, and the Ministry of Internal Affairs.
“We’ve submitted proposals that are now being processed, including criminal liability for attacks on medical workers while they are performing their professional duties,” she said.
The minister also highlighted plans to equip paramedics with body cameras.
“We’ll be implementing the use of body-worn video badges. This requirement has already been added to Order No. 225, and regional governments will be responsible for allocating the necessary funding. I believe we’ll carry this out gradually by the end of this year. In Almaty, we’ve already addressed this at regional ambulance stations. Wearing the badges helps keep both medical staff and potential troublemakers in check,” Alnazarova added.
Previously, the Ministry of Healthcare reported that it would implement new rules for mobile medical teams handling non-critical emergency calls from May 1.
