Thunderstorms and heat: Storm warning issued for 16 regions, Astana, and Almaty

Tengrinews.kz – A storm warning has been issued for 16 regions of Kazakhstan, as well as for Astana and Almaty. Meteorologists warn of thunderstorms, hail, and heatwaves in the south, accompanied by dust storms.

Astana – Precipitation (rain, snow) expected at night. West wind at 15–20 m/s, with daytime gusts reaching 23–28 m/s.

Almaty – Thunderstorm expected late in the day. Southeast wind shifting to northwest, with daytime gusts of 15–20 m/s.

East Kazakhstan Region – Due to forecasted rainfall, intense snowmelt will continue. Meltwater runoff and slope runoff are expected, along with rising river levels from tributaries, streams, and mountain sources. This could lead to flooding in certain areas.

Zhetysu Region – Thunderstorms expected in the west and mountainous areas. Dust storms forecast in the west and north during the day. Southwest wind, with gusts of 15–20 m/s in the northern half, occasionally 23–28 m/s during the day. High fire hazard expected in the western part of the region.

Kostanay Region – Precipitation (rain, snow) expected during the day in Kostanay city. West and northwest wind at 15–20 m/s, gusts reaching 23–28 m/s.

Almaty Region – Thunderstorms expected in the north, south, and mountainous areas. Dust storms expected in the north, west, and south. Southeast wind shifting to northwest, gusts up to 23 m/s in some areas. High fire hazard remains in the west.

Abai Region – Thunderstorms expected at night in the north and south; thunderstorms and hail expected during the day. Southwest wind shifting to northwest, 15–20 m/s in the west, north, and center.

Mangystau Region – Northern wind shifting to southwest at 15–20 m/s at night in the south. High fire hazard remains in the northeast and east of the region.

Aktobe Region – Fog expected at night and in the morning in the north. Northwest and west wind with gusts of 15–20 m/s in the north, east, and center. Nighttime frosts of -3°C expected in the west and north. High fire hazard persists in the south.

Kyzylorda Region – Thunderstorms, squalls, and dust storms expected in the central and eastern parts. Northwest wind at 15–20 m/s, gusts up to 23 m/s in the center. High fire hazard across the region.

Ulytau Region – Thunderstorms expected at night in the south and east. Fog at night and in the morning in the north. Northwest wind with daytime gusts of 15–20 m/s in the west, north, and south.

Karaganda Region – Thunderstorms expected during the day in the south, east, and center. Southwest and west wind with daytime gusts of 15–20 m/s in the west, north, and southeast.

East Kazakhstan Region – Thunderstorms and hail expected during the day. Southeast and south wind at 15–20 m/s in the north and east.

Atyrau Region – High fire hazard expected in the south of the region.

North Kazakhstan Region – Thunderstorms and hail expected at night in the north and east. Fog expected at night and in the morning in the south.

Turkestan Region – Thunderstorms expected in the morning and daytime in the north, west, and mountainous areas. Dust storm in the north. Southwest wind shifting to northwest, with gusts of 15–20 m/s at night in the north, and up to 23 m/s during the day. High fire hazard expected across much of the region.

West Kazakhstan Region – Fog expected at night and in the morning in the north and east.

Akmola Region – Fog expected at night and in the morning in the west.

Pavlodar Region – Thunderstorms expected in the west, north, and east. West wind, with nighttime gusts of 15–20 m/s in the west and north; daytime gusts up to 25 m/s.

Zhambyl Region – Thunderstorms and hail expected during the day in the north, south, and mountainous areas. Dust storm expected during the day in the north and south. Northwest wind with gusts of 15–20 m/s in the southwest, northeast, and mountainous areas. On April 29, high fire hazard remains in the north, west, and center, and is expected in the south.
