Tengrinews.kz – A camera trap in the Sairam-Ugam State National Nature Park in the Turkistan region has once again captured one of the rarest and most mysterious inhabitants of the wild.
According to park staff, this is the second sighting of the "mountain lord" this year. The snow leopard is listed in the Red Book of Kazakhstan and is considered an extremely rare species. Its regular appearances indicate favorable living conditions for the predator in this region, as well as the high effectiveness of conservation efforts systematically carried out in the park.

Sairam-Ugam National Park continues active monitoring of wild animals. Thanks to the installation of camera traps, it is possible to obtain unique footage and better study the behavior of rare animals without disturbing their natural habitat.
The snow leopard, or irbis (Latin: Panthera uncia, formerly Uncia uncia), is known for its slender and agile body with short but powerful legs. It has a small head and a very long tail, which helps it maintain balance on rocky slopes. Including the tail, a snow leopard can reach 2–2.3 meters in length and weigh up to 55 kilograms.
Its thick, light gray fur with distinctive dark spots and rosettes provides excellent camouflage among rocks and snow.
