It is of paramount importance to pass a legislation introducing a ban on checks and audits on newly established small and medium sized businesses, President Nursultan Nazarbayev stated at the joint sitting of the two Parliament chambers September 1, opening the new session, Novosti Kazakhstan reports. According to the President, newly established small and middle-sized businesses should be exempted from any checks and audits by public bodies for three years starting from the date of their state registration. Tengrinews.kz reported earlier, citing PM Massimov, that in the H1 2011 the number of S&MBs; grew by 8%, exceeding 600 000. “I want to emphasize that by July 1 the number of S&MBs; (…) made up 678 000. 2.5 million are employed in the sector, over 1/3 of the economically active population”, Massimov said at a sitting [on the H1 2011 economy results] presided over by President at that time.
