A personalized electronic register for pregnant women has been introduced in Kazkahstan, Tengrinews reports citing Margipa Yembergenova, Deputy Director of the Medical Care Organization Department of the Healthcare Ministry of Kazakhstan. The Ministry said that the register will improve pregnancy monitoring, identify vulnerable women and take measures to help them. "All the women of the high risk group are delivered to specialised perinatal centers. The survival rate of newborn infants with extreme low body weight of 500- 999gr has been increased to 54% and that of infants with the body weight of around 1500gr to 99%," Yembergenova explained. "The rate of maternal mortality for 100 thousand people made 15.3 in 2012 and it was reduced to 12.6 in 2013. The most widespread causes of maternal mortality are still obstetrical hemorrhage, hypertension disorders and extragenital pathologies," she added. By Assemgul Kassenova
