Newest neurosurgical treatment methods will be implemented in Kazakhstan, Tengrinews.kz reports citing press-service of the National Medical Holding. “A master-class called Modern Functional Neurosurgery covering the newest neurosurgical methods is held in the national scientific neurosurgery center. These methods include minimum-invasive procedures, such as neuro-stimulation and stereotactic neurosurgery that will be in use in Kazakhstan starting from this year,” the press-service stated. The training is held in Astana by the professor of Russia’s Burdenko Neurosurgery Scientific-Research Center Vladimir Shabalov who established functional neurosurgery and neuro-modulation. He developed and implemented many new neurosurgery methods, such as neuro-transplantation and neuro-stimulation. “Functional neurosurgery is at the organizational stage in Kazakhstan. Practice of the new methods during this master-class will enable local medical professionals to render medical aide to a wide range of patients with incurable functional diseases whom Kazakhstan medicine has not been able to help before,” the National Holding stated. The master-class will include several spinal cord neuro-stimulation surgeries that have never been made in Kazakhstan before. By Assel Satayeva
