A MMA fighter from M-1 Challenge 48 “Battle of Nomads” took off and never showed up for the fight in Astana, Tengrinews citing Vesti.kz.

The spectators did not see the fight between Pavel Pitruk of Russia and Agonei Romero from Spain. Even through the Spanish fighter had signed a contract and went through the weight-in procedure. But he mysteriously did not make it to the sports arena.

The mystery was solved when the police started searching for the sportsman. He was found 3 hours later in the Astana airport where he was trying to catch a flight to Spain.

It was reported that Romero was in a poor mental state. His coach said that it is the first incident in Romero’s fighting career.

Kazakhstani Rashid Dagayev won the tournament. It was his first victory in a professional M-1 tournament. He beat Gerardo Nunez through submission. Meanwhile, for a Kazakhstani debutant Serik Tlekeev his first tournament ended with a KO from Azerbaijani Anvar Amirli. Tlekeev was hospitalized after the fight.
