Turgen-2011 the 6th annual Almaty Cup rafting competition took place on July 31 on the Turgen River, Tengrinews.kz reports. The competition was in slalom. 10 teams took part: 6 men’s and 4 women’s. Men’s team Multimix and women’s team BEMS won the first place. “These are second out of three season’s competitions. This time we are holding only slalom rafting at the Turgen River. The final event will take place in mid-September in Chilik (near Almaty),” President of Rafting Federation of Kazakhstan Maksim Zimin said. Three Kazakh teams – men’s Muchachos and Alina-legion and women’s BEMS are expected to take part in the Rafting World Cup in Altay. They will be rafting along the Katun River on August 26- 29. Besides the Kazakh teams the event will involve the hosts (Russia) and teams from 15 other countries, including Japan, Czech, Slovakia and Ukraine.
