The Supreme Eurasian Council is having a meeting in Astana, Tengrinews reports. The meeting of the Council, the supreme body of the Customs Union and the Common Economic Space, started in a narrow format with only Kazakhstan President and Prime-Ministers of Kazakhstan, Russia and Belarus taking part, but later was followed by an extended meeting where Kazakhstan's Serik Akhmetov, Russia's Dmitry Medvedev and Belarus' Mikhail Myasnikovich were joined by Prime-Ministers of Kyrgyzstan and Ukraine. The Prime-Ministers of Ukraine and Kyrgyzstan have been invited as observers. According to Serik Akhmetov, Prime-Minister of Kazakhstan, this is the first time the Council's meeting is participated by Ukraine and Kyrgyzstan. "I hope that the today's meeting will be held in the spirit of our traditional mutual understanding and mutually beneficial decisions will be made," he said before the meeting. The Prime-Ministers met with Kazakhstan President Nursultan Nazarbayev before the council session. He said that discussion of the further development of the Customs Union and the Common Economic Space was the Council's agenda, as well as admission of new members. "None of these issues are simple, but I am sure you will find a common ground," he said. Nazarbayev believes that the active participation of the countries testifies that there is a lot of interest to the Eurasian integration. The meeting will cover a wide range of issues of further enhancement of the Eurasian economic integration, as well as implementation of the agreements achieved during the meeting of the Supreme Economic Council held in Astana on May 29, 2013, including preparation of the Agreement on the Eurasian Economic Union.
