Kazakhstan President Nursultan Nazarbayev has had a telephone conversation with Russia’s Vladimir Putin on the situation in Ukraine, Tengrinews reports citing the press service of the former.
On July 30, the presidents exchanged opinions about the possible ways of resolving the ongoing crisis. Nazarbayev expressed his concern over the deaths of civilians, especially women and children, and expressed hope that the warring parties would take all measures necessary for ceasefire and starting peace talks in Ukraine.
Besides the crisis in Ukraine, the leaders discussed bilateral cooperation and development of the Eurasian Economic Union, as well as preparations for the meeting on the highest level in September.
The press service of the Kremlin mentioned that the meeting took place “on the Kazakhstani side’s initiative.”
