Closing his working visit to the South of Kazakhstan, the country’s President Nursultan Nazarbayev stated that the region could be transformed into a major producer of fruit and vegetables, according to Akorda.kz, his official website.
“The region has a vast potential to be a major producer of vegetables and fruit. Substantial investments have been injected and we already see them recouped. Through introduction of advanced technology, the agricultural produce figure has grown 2.5 times for the last five years, with some of the products being exported. Animal farming has also been on the rise”, he told a briefing March 26, following his visit to the largest greenhouse facility in Kazakhstan.
Speaking to reps of the country’s media, President emphasized the Government had been paying a special attention to develop the South of Kazakhstan, the most densely populated area.
“Great efforts have been taken to bring its population figure to 1000 000. The region has seen its infrastructure rampantly developing, with motorways , railways and gas pipelines running across its territory. All this facilitates businesses and the overall wellbeing”, President said.
“As of today, major railway lines run across the region, including the new West Europe – West China motorway. The airport is being overhauled. For the recent years the region has become a global center of uranium production. The region accounts for 35% of the global uranium production”, Nazarbayev said.
According to the Press Service, among other things President Nazarbayev visited the National Tennis Facility built as instructed by him earlier.
