Tengrinews.kz - The press service of the Astana akimat (local government administration) responded to an inquiry from Tengrinews.kz on when the heating season will end in the capital.
According to officials, the timing depends on weather conditions. The decision to turn off the heating is made in accordance with the city’s heating season regulations, approved by the Maslikhat on June 27, 2014.
"The heating season ends when the average daily outdoor temperature remains at +10°C or higher for five consecutive days. The outdoor temperature is monitored daily in collaboration with 'Kazhydromet.' If the specified conditions are met, the akimat will make a decision to end the heating season," the press service stated.
To check the five-day average temperature in Astana, Tengrinews.kz reached out to Kazhydromet. The data showed that subzero temperatures were recently recorded:
March 14: -4.7°C
March 15: -1.1°C
March 16: -1.7°C
March 17: +1.5°C
March 18: +5°C
The exact date for turning off the heating has yet to be determined.
For reference, in 2024, the Astana akimat decided to end the heating season on April 19 after favorable weather conditions were established.
Earlier, Kazhydromet released the weather forecast for Kazakhstan for March 20, 21, and 22. Despite the arrival of spring, northern regions are expected to face another cold spell.
