Tengrinews.kz - Kazakhstan’s Minister of Emergency Situations, Chingis Arinov, has reported that 348,000 gas cylinders in the country need replacement.
During a government meeting, the minister noted that since 2021, more than 107,000 detectors have been installed in Kazakh homes to warn residents early about carbon monoxide dangers.
"These detectors have activated 55 times, preventing the deaths of 248 people. Another major cause of fatalities is the improper use of household gas, which can lead to explosions. Currently, people are illegally refilling gas cylinders at gas stations, and most of these cylinders should be disposed of. According to our estimates, 348,000 gas cylinders require replacement," the minister stated.
Arinov emphasized the need to strengthen safety controls for gas systems and equipment.
