Kazakhstan's chief sanitary doctor has tagged sushi a dangerous food, Tengrinews.kz reports citing chairman of the State Sanitary-Epidemiological Control Commission of Kazakhstan Healthcare Ministry Zhandarbek Bekshin. "We would like to draw your attention to seafood. Many seafood products, especially those used to make sushi, are used without thermal treatment. That's why they are very dangerous for human health. You know, we have many sushi-bars, not only in Astana and Almaty, but in other regions as well. The seafood imported from foreign countries bears a potential danger for Kazakhstan. It is imported from China, Japan, South Korea, India and Russia's Far East," Bekshin said at the briefing. Bekshin also said that virus diseases are passed on mainly by dirty hands and unwashed food products, such as vegetables and fruits from China, Poland, Central Asian countries, Afghanistan and Iran.
