Tengrinews.kz - Special forces conducted an operation in Almaty, dismantling a large drug laboratory, according to Polisia.kz.
The drug lab operated in the private sector of the Medeu district. The special operation in Almaty was carried out in coordination with the prosecutor's office. A 35-year-old resident of Almaty region was detained for organizing the production of synthetic drugs in a rented house.
"During the search, dozens of bags with powdered substances, canisters with liquid, a portable shower with an exhaust system, and a 150-liter barrel for mixing reagents were seized. We also found buckets, plastic containers, scales, and laboratory equipment. Forensic chemical examination established that the powdered substance is mephedrone, weighing 21.7 kilograms," said Kuatbek Nauatov, the first deputy head of the Almaty police department.
A pre-trial investigation has been initiated. The "drug producer" has been taken into custody. The channel for supplying raw materials for the production of synthetic drugs to Almaty is currently being investigated.
There was a similar case when police special forces conducted a special operation at a nightclub in Karaganda, detaining a mephedrone dealer.
