The Astana Opera has opened a series of charity concerts dedicated to the 70th Anniversary of the Victory Day on May 9th. The first concert featured music of French composers at the Astana Art Gallery on February 19, Tengrinews reports.

The audience delighted in the beauty of Gabriel Fauré’s Pavane, a poem for a violin and orchestra, the concert for a flute with orchestra written by Jacques Ibert and Charles-Camille Saint-Saëns’ Danse macabre.

In Pavane, Fauré paid tribute to the interest French took in Spanish music. The piece was written for a orchestra that includes only stringed instruments, and pairs of flutes, hoboys, clarinets, bassoons and bugles. But Pavane has become extremely popular and there are various versions of Fauré’s most famous composition.

Another brilliant musical poem performed at the concert was written by Ernest Chausson for a violin and orchestra. The piece is one of the most often performed compositions. The organizers of the concerts also included the concert for flute with orchestra of one of the most famous French composer of the 20th century Jacques Ibert.

The music was played by Astana Opera musicians Aisulu Baikenova (violin), Balzhan Saparova (flute) and symphony orchestra led by conductor Abzal Mukhitdinov.
