Russian Katyusha Cycling Team to participate in Tour of Almaty-2014

Russian cycling team Katyusha will participate in the one day international road cycling competition Tour of Almaty-2014, Tengrinews reports citing Vesti.kz. The annual cycling event was first held last year.

Russian cycling team Katyusha will participate in the one day international road cycling competition Tour of Almaty-2014, Tengrinews reports citing Vesti.kz. The annual cycling event was first held last year. 

Team Katyusha was created in 2008 and has won a number of competitions, including stages at prestigious Tour de France and Milan-San Remo in 2014. This season Team Katyusha, one of the most competitive teams, has won over 20 races.

One of the organizers of the Tour of Almaty Arnur Ibrayev, CEO of Sport Technologies Kazakhstan, said that negotiations with the Russian team took several weeks. Managers of the Russian team fully supports the idea holding large scale races in Almaty.

Teams from Poland, Italy, the USA, Ukraine, France, Austria, Denmark and the UAE will take part. Among the competing teams, the most notable teams are Rusvelo, CCC PolsatOlsat Polkowice, Team La Pomme Marseille13 and SkyDive Dubai Pro Cycling Team.

The Tour of Almaty will be held on October 5, 2014. The total distance is 186 kilometers. The race is organized by the Almaty Akimat (Municipal Authorities), Kazakhstan Cycling Federation and Sport Technologies of Kazakhstan company.
