Petropavlovsk policemen met with Olympic champion Alexandre Vinokourov, Tengrinews.kz reports referring to North Kazakhstan Oblast Department of Internal Affairs press-service. Alexandre Vinokourov is a long time official member of the police of North Kazakhstan Oblast. So the Department's authorities and veterans, oblast and city police officers and №6637 military unit management gathered to meet the Kazakhstan cyclist. Police Colonel Murat Urumkhanov, head of North Kazakhstan Department of Internal Affairs, congratulated the athlete on his victory and presented him with a new service certificate, wrist watch with the Interior Ministry’s symbols, 20 Years of Kazakhstan Police medal and Long Service Award along with the Merit Certificate during the awarding ceremony. The champion was also presented with a kamcha (Kazakh traditional short thick whip). According to an ancient Kazakh tradition a kamcha symbolizes leadership and success. Vinokourov was also presented with a plasma TV set. Police Colonel Amir Kassenov, head of Petropavlovsk Department of Internal Affairs, awarded the cyclist with Police Lieutenant Colonel rank and a set of gold stars of field officers for shoulder straps.
