In the snatch, Goricheva first tried 103 kilos and then 108 kilos. In the final attempt, Kazakh athlete beat her best result so far by snatching 113 kilos. Like Goricheva, Albanian Romela Begaj also lifted 113 kilos, but because she weighs less than Goricheva - 62.23 kilos to Goricheva's 62.62 - the 21-year-old Kazakh athlete got the second place in the snatch.
In the clean and jerk, Albanian athlete failed to lift 127 kilos in the first attempt, but succeeded in the second one. As for Goricheva, she lifted 128 kilos in the second attempt and later improved her standing by lifting 133 kilos.
As a result, lifting 246 kilos in total the Kazakh weightlifter finished sixth, while Tima Turiyeva from Russia and Deng Wei from China came first with 252 kilos in total. The Chinese athlete became the World Champion, because she weighed less than her Russian opponent.
Kazakhstan's national team finished third at the World Weightlifting Championship that was held in Almaty on November 8-16. Kazakh athletes won five medals: three gold and two silver. Olympic champion of the 2012 London Games Zulfiya Chinshanlo hauled a gold medal in 53 kilo weight league. Young Kazakh weightlifter Zhazira Zhapparkul won a silver medal in 69 kilo weight league. As for men, in 94 kilo weight category, Zhassulan Kydyrbayev clinched gold and Vladimir Sedov - silver.
