Kazakhstani Ilya Ilyin, recognized as the best weightlifter of 2014, will receive the Jeno Boskovic Trophy at the special ceremony in Astana, Tengrinews reports citing Vesti.kz.
The members of the International Weightlifting Federation voted Kazakhstani Ilya Ilyin and Russian Tatyana Kashirina as the best weightlifters. The award ceremony is scheduled to April 24 in Astana. It is the third time, Ilyin receives this award. In 2013, Kazakhstani Zulfiya Chinshanlo was awarded Jeno Boskovic Trophy as the best woman weightlifter.
The trophy is awarded to best weightlifters based on their performances during one year. Ilyin became four times World Champion in 2014 after the World Championship in Almaty. He competed in the -105 kg weight category scoring 190 kg in clean and jerk and 242 kg in snatch. Despite competing in the new weight division, Ilyin set a new world record.
