The coach of the two times Olympic Champion Ilya Iliyn and Yerzhan Boltayev has been appointed the head coach of the Kazakhstan’s weightlifting team, Tengrinews reports citing Vesti.kz.
The coach of the two times Olympic Champion Ilya Iliyn and Yerzhan Boltayev has been appointed the head coach of the Kazakhstan’s weightlifting team, Tengrinews reports citing Vesti.kz.
Earlier, the Weightlifting Federation of Kazakhstan conducted its annual conference. Boltayev replaced Alexey Ni as the head coach of the men’s team. In turn, Ni was appointed the new head coach of the women’s team. Ivan Sivokhin who previously worked with the women’s team now will be working on an integrated research.
Boltayev is training Iliyn, the Kazakhstani star weightlifter, who earned his fourth World Championship title in the -105 kg weight division in Almaty.
The Federation also plans to open weightlifting clubs at boarding schools in Karaganda, Ust-Kamenogorsk and Pavlodar in 2015.
The Head of the Federation Tusupbekov talked about the goals set for the Rio Olympics. “At the London Olympics we won 4 gold medals. That's why at the Rio Olympics we aim to at least show similar results. But ideally we want to improve our results at the Olympics,” he said.
