Kazakhstan’s President Nursultan Nazarbayev has discussed the outcomes of the Norman meeting of leaders of Germany, France, Russia and Ukraine that took place in Minsk, Belarus on February 12, Tengrinews reports citing the press service of Akorda.

On February 11, the leaders of Ukraine, Russia, Germany and France gathered in Minsk to take part in the Norman talks aimed at resolving the crisis in the east of Ukraine.

As a result of the 16-hour negotiations that ended on February 12, the sides finally came to an agreement, which required a cease-fire starting from February 15, withdrawal of all heavy weapons at equal distances of 50 km and more, creation of a 70 km security zone, exchange of hostages and illegally detained individuals based on the "all for all" principle.

During the phone conversation initiated by the Russian side, Nazarbayev said that the Norman Four meeting at еру top level and the active stance of the Russian President during the negotiations contributed to the achievement of the agreement.

The two counterparts emphasized the ultimate importance of the implementation of the cease-fire agreement by both conflicting sides starting from February 15.

Nazarbayev and Putin also expressed hope that the efforts undertaken to ensure the peace process would facilitate the resolution of the crisis in the east of Ukraine.

In addition, Vladimir Putin confirmed his readiness to take part in a trilateral meeting of the heads of Belarus, Kazakhstan and Russia in Astana to talk over the cooperation in economy.
