National Bank’s PR Department refutes today’s media reports on National Bank Governor Gregory Marchenko’s alleged decision to file in resignation. “According to the applicable legislation regulating the National Bank’s operations, National Bank’s Governor is appointed for a tenure of 6 years by the country’s President upon approval by the Senate. The Governor has the right to resign when filing in a resignation letter two months prior to the anticipated resignation”, the statement reads. According to the statement, the current Mr. Marchenko’s tenure expires in January 2015. Mr. Marchenko hasn’t filed and doesn’t plan to file in resignation before the tenure expires”, Interfax-Kazakhstan reports, citing the National Bank’s PR Department.
