Kazakhstan’s President Nursultan Nazarbayev is to attend the Russian G20 Leaders' Summit to be held in Russia’s St. Petersburg, Tengrinews.kz reports, citing the country’s Vice Foreign Minister Kairat Sarybai. “September 5-6 President Nazarbayev is to attend the G20 summit (…) Besides, September 12-13, Head of State is expected to attend the meeting of the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) Council of Heads of State in Bishek, Kyrgyzstan”, Mr. Sarybai elaborated, adding that “President Nazarbayev also plans to pay visits to some European and Middle East countries”. Earlier Tengrinews.kz reported that Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi is to pay a visit to Kazakhstan August 17-20. The visit precedes the first state visit of President Xi Jinping scheduled for September 6-8. The Group of Twenty (G20) is the premier forum for international economic cooperation and decision-making, with members from 19 countries plus the European Union. G20 leaders, finance ministers and central bank governors meet regularly to discuss ways to strengthen the global economy, reform international financial institutions and improve financial regulation. The G20 played a key role in responding to the global financial crisis of 2008-09. Its decisive and coordinated actions boosted consumer and business confidence and supported the first stages of economic recovery. The G20 continues to focus on measures to support global economic growth, with a strong emphasis on promoting job creation and open trade.
