The Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) will create an Energy Club to discuss energy projects, Interfax-Kazakhstan reports citing the sources in Russian government. “We expecting this platform to start operating next February,” the sources said. He explained that such large-scale energy projects as construction of high-voltage lines from Tajikistan to India via Afghanistan and Pakistan require “serious political support”. The club will include representatives of energy ministries of the SCO member-states, as well as leading energy companies. Earlier Tengrinews.kz English reported that a meeting of the Council of Heads of Government of the SCO-states will be held in Saint-Petersburg on November 7 and will cover the economic situation in the region.
