President Nazarbayev has opened the traditional conference on the Astana’s development today, Tengrinews reports.
Astana has to develop so that the city “would join the ranks of the cities comfortable for living”, the Head of the State said. Astana will look up to Canadian cities and Singapore in its development as the cities have a certain likeness.
The president noted that over a million tourists had visited Astana over the past years and 100 thousand of them were foreigners.
Speaking about construction of the major venues for the upcoming EXPO-2017 and said that since the construction started in spring a great amount of work would be done during the summer.
Earlier this week President Nazarbayev kickstarted the construction of the EXPO-2017 exhibition main venue - a bowl-shaped semi-sphere near the Nazarbayev University in Astana. During the ceremony, he said that the upcoming EXPO-2017 and the new venue would create a lot of jobs and new business opportunities for small and medium-sized businesses in Kazakhstan.
