Eurocopter Kazakhstan Engineering has presented a EC 645 T2 military helicopter in Astana, Tengrinews.kz reports. “We are presenting the new helicopter today. The helicopter currently exists only as a dummy. The actual supplies are scheduled for 2015. The first such helicopter will be produced in 2014. Germany (15 helicopters) has confirmed its order. In line with the distribution zones of our plant, we plan to supply the helicopters to Mongolia, Azerbaijan, Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan and Russia. These are military helicopters, so they will be bought by defense and law enforcement authorities. Our Defense Ministry has already confirmed an order. We hope that border services of the National Security Commission and probably the Interior Ministry will be interested in them as well. We have pre-orders on 4 helicopters for 2015 so far,” Commercial Director of Eurocopter Kazakhstan Engineering Karibai Ablezov said. The helicopter has different armament, including guided and unguided missiles and heavy machine guns. Kazakhstan is the fourth country after Germany, France and the U.S. to host a presentation of the combat helicopter. However, the cost of the vehicle has not been unveiled yet. “We cannot tell the cost. In general, it is developed by Eurocopter company. Speaking of it general: it has been developed by Eurocopter whose shareholders include France, Germany and Spain. The helicopters will be produced in Germany and France. We will be receiving the units and parts for assembly from these countries. We will be assembling them at our plant in Astana. We may be able to export them later on, but there are no foreign orders so far. Our plant's capacity is 10-12 helicopters per year, but the plan is to increase it in future,” Karibai Ablezov said. The helicopter’s maximum takeoff weight is 3,650kg, Its maximum limit speed is 268 km/h and the flying range is 663km. It can take up to 10 battle-quipped people. The helicopter is equipped with a optical surveillance system, night vision and laser range finder. The memorandum on assembly of EC 645 T2 helicopters was signed in spring between Eurocopter Kazakhstan Engineering and Eurocopter. The joint company plans to expand the model range of the produced helicopters. By Baubek Konyrov
