New chairman of Nurbank appointed

Mukhtar Idrissov has been appointed new chairman of Nurbank, Interfax-Kazakhstan writes. The decision was made at the bank’s board meeting; Idrissov officially started working in his position on February 13, 2012. The bank’s press-release states that the new chairman “will uphold Nurbank’s principles based on the bank’s mission and values: transparency, openness and professionalism”. Rishat Zhakanbayev was acting chairman of Nurbank until February 13. Before Nurbank, Idrissov worked as deputy chairman of Moskommertsbank and deputy chairman of Halyk Bank. Nurbank’s major shareholder is Sofia Sarsenova (68.56 percent). According to unofficial information, she is a sister of former manager of Mangistaumunaigas Rashit Sarsenov. Nurbank is 7th in terms of assets among Kazakhstan banks.
