A documentary film The Origins of the Apple by French director and scientist Catherine Peix has got the Audience Award in the International Film Festival of Asian Cinema (Festival International des Cinemas d'Asie) that was held in France, Tengrinews.kz reports. Kazakhstan scientists participated in the filming of the movie. Documentary shows the origin of the famous Asian Wild Apple (Malus Sieversii) that is considered the ancestress of all the apples on Earth. It grows only in Kazakhstan mountains at present. The documentary condemns thoughtless attitude to the unique plant. The crew has been working in Dzungarian Alatau mountains for three years to create this 40-minute film. One more movie that was shot in Kazakhstan (Sunny Days by Nariman Turebayev) participated in the Festival's program. However, this movie got no awards.
